Why is Les Deux Alpes a good ski resort for school groups?

Les Deux Alpes (you'll sometimes see it written as Les2Alpes or even L2A) is a glacier resort. The glacier is quite high above the resort and the weather can be a bit temperamental at times but it does mean that if your trip is early or late in the season, you have better chance of snow than with some other resorts. The glacier is a great place for beginners if the sun is shining. Lower down, by the resort itself there are good sections for learners, though if you are a group of novices, you can forget about skiing down from the glacier to the resort - you will have to take the lift at least some of the way.

Getting to Les Deux Alpes
Chambery, Grenoble, Geneva and Lyon are the most popular arrival airports for this resort, with flight times around 3 hours, depending on which UK airport you depart from. Add anything from 2 to 3 hours for transfers from the airport to resort. Coach travel is also an option and often a cheaper than flying, especially if you can share with another group.

For beginners
Beginners are well catered for at Les Deux Alpes. There are some decent areas for first time skiers just outside the resort centre, though much of the gentle skiing is located higher up the mountain towards the glacier. As your school group gains confidence, the blue run on the glacier itself is lovely and wide and great fun.
