Why is Mont Tremblant a good ski resort for school groups?
A relatively small ski resort compared to the rest we feature here on ski school trips, Mont Tremblant, in the Laurentian Mountains of Canada, nevertheless boasts more than 90 different trails and has installed enough snow making equipment to decorate the whole mountain in the white stuff, all season long.
On your school ski trip, the main thing you need to know is that the village itself is on the south side of the mountain, where there is more sun and more facilities, while the north side has less crowds - and Mont Tremblant can get quite crowded on weekends and during school holidays as it is the favoured resort for residents of nearby Montreal. Make sure you bring warm clothing too, because this part of Canada can get bone numbing cold in winter.
Getting to Mont Tremblant
Your school party will fly into the wonderful city of Montreal in the French speaking province of Quebec. Flights to this part of Eastern Canada will take 7 hours, but the resort isn't too far from the city so the transfer is painless and there will also be opportunity for your group to spend some time on a city tour.
For beginners
Mont Tremblant has a dedicated family zone on the south side of the mountain, though there are first time skier friendly runs on both sides of the mountain. The majority of runs are wide - perfect for beginners, and most are pretty long and tree lined, which will give your pupils a real sense of achievement as they glide down the mountain.
Ice skating is a real favourite here and you can also have a go at tubing - sliding down the piste on an inflatable rubber tube, which is tremendous fun.
Mont Tremblant accommodation
Take a look at the photograph below and you'll see why we would describe this resort as colourful. Love or hate the appearance of the village, there are some good deals to be had in this otherwise quite pricey resort. You also get the benefit of having a superb choice of places to eat and lots of off-piste entertainment. A number of hotels have heated indoor pools or hot tubs too.
